FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Flibbar?
Flibbar is a social media message board platform with file sharing and instant messaging features. Create your own message boards called "groups" and invite members, or join other groups and engage in the conversation. You can post what you want on other people's groups if the owners allow it, and post what you want in the public groups. You can alternatively create a private group that's hidden on the platform and only allow the members you authorise to join.

How do I join Flibbar?
You can sign up using an email and create a password, or use automatic sign-up by connecting your Gmail or Facebook account. It's that simple.

How do I use Flibbar?
You can use Flibbar to create groups, post to groups, message members and share files. For more detailed instructions, please see our "Help" page.

What do I do if someone insults or offends me?
The same thing you would do in the real world. Ignore them by blocking their profile. Remove yourself from the situation by leaving the group, especially if it's full of people you find offensive. Flibbar is designed so that if you are not able to converse with those with offensive and differing views, you can create your own groups and invite members who are more aligned with your worldview, or simply join groups that don't post material that offends you.

Is Flibbar decentralised?
Yes and no, at present it's 90% decentralised. We don't police speech, but we will oversee the platform to ensure nothing illegal is posted on our site. We aim to eventually migrate to Web3 and use AI to oversee the site to ensure nobody crosses the line. However, Rome wasn't built in a day, and your continued support will enable us to reach this goal sooner. In the meantime, until this migration has been completed, we will have to continue to remain admins to ensure this site isn't abused by bad actors and criminals, or anything that would make us legally liable.

Can I post anything I want?
Yes, except for:
-
Anything that contains child abuse or exploitation.
-
Anything that encourages the manufacturing, distribution or sale of illegal substances, firearms or explosives.
-
Anything that encourages terrorism, supports terrorism or incites violence.

What happens if I post any of the above?
You will have your account terminated immediately, your IP address and all of your details will be forwarded to your local police agency, and you will be banned from ever joining Flibbar again.

I'm worried this site will attract people who will share illegal content.
We will immediately remove and ban anyone who shares illegal content. However, if in the unlikely event someone slips through the net, we encourage all our users to report them to us immediately via our chat box in the bottom right corner or at the bottom of this page.

Won't this site attract racists and those who promote hate speech?
Sadly, people with extreme views will exist in the world, and thus, they will most likely exist here too. However, we can't make exceptions to ban free speech that falls within the law. We believe in free speech at Flibbar and that includes allowing those with extreme views. However, the way Flibbar works, you're unlikely to come across them unless you seek them out. You're in control of your groups, if someone with extreme views makes it into your group, you can remove them and block them. If you're not an admin of the group, you can block the offensive members or leave the group. You're in control of what you post and what you see. There's a block button, please use it.

Is file sharing private?
Yes and no, sharing files via the files library or your profile is public and viewable by everyone on the site; however, posting files to a group is only viewable by members of that group. Bear in mind, anyone can join public groups and will gain access to those files uploaded to that group if they join, but private groups can only be accessed by people permitted to join.

Is the instant messaging feature end-to-end encrypted?
This feature is not on by default. Please see the "Help" page for instructions on how to enable this feature.
